Request for Proposals: Grant Writing

fb_profileThe City of Monroe is requesting proposals for grant writing and administration services to assist with a project funded with Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds through the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA).

The City of Monroe intends to apply for funds to construct wastewater treatment plant improvements.

The selected contractor will work with the City of Monroe to ensure compliance with CDBG Program requirements, in the event this project receives CDBG funding.  Activities will include but are not limited to project reporting, preparation of disbursement requests, and other activities required under the state of Iowa’s CDBG program.  A full description of the work specifications are available at City Hall at 206 W Sherman, Monroe, Iowa.

Proposals to the City of Monroe should include the minimum information:

  • Experience with IEDA’s CDBG program
  • Description of past grant administrative services provided
  • Description of organizational capacity to complete all necessary grant administration activities
  • References from previous clients of related work within the past five years
  • Cost of services

Proposals must be submitted no later than 12:00 P.M. (noon). on Thursday, April 27, 2017.  Proposals should be submitted to City Clerk, Kim Thomas, P.O. Box 370, Monroe, Iowa 50170.

Employment: Public Works Seasonal

Monroe Iowa Now HiringThe City of Monroe is now accepting applications for two (2) Seasonal Employees for the Public Works Department.  Applicants must be 16 years of age or older to be considered.  Duties will include mowing and trimming of city owner property and tasks as assigned.  20 to 30 hours per week, May through September.  Applications may be picked up at City Hall, 206 W Sherman Street or downloaded here.   Application deadline is 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 28th.  Any questions please call City Hall at 641-259-3490. Spring 2017 City Wide Garage Sales/Clean Up Day

City-wide garage sale day this year is set for Saturday, May 6th.  Once the map is available it will be posted on the City Wide Garage Sales page.

The following Wednesday, May 10th, will be clean up day in Monroe.

All items should be on the curb by 6:00am.  Items that two people can lift may be set out on the curb.  Clean out the house, basement, and garage!

NO – Tires, windows with glass, or construction materials.  NO appliances, batteries, oil or paint.

Request for Bids – 2004 Monte Carlo

The City of Monroe is accepting bids for a 2004 Super Charged SS Monte Carlo.  The car can be viewed at the Monroe City Hall located at 206 W Sherman Street.  Vehicle will be sold as is with no warranty.  Sealed bids must be received at the Monroe City Hall by 4:00 p.m. on April 7th.  Bids will be opened at the April 10th regular council meeting.  The City has the right to refuse any and all bids.

Monroe Silent City CemeteryThe City of Monroe is accepting mowing bids for Silent City Cemetery and Memorial Park for the 2017/2018 fiscal year beginning April 15, 2017.  Specifications of the contract may be obtained at the Monroe City Hall, 206 W Sherman Street.  All bids must be received at City Hall by 4:00 p.m. on April 6th.  Contracts will be awarded on April 10, 2017.  References and proof of insurance will be required.  Call City Hall at 641-259-3490 for more information.  The City reserves the right to refuse any and all bids.
